I have over 1000 nodes, that I previously dragged into windows to save the
images in the linked files folder.
I deleted them from all windows but they show up.
When I "insert into view" it says the only window they are contained in, is the
current one.

There is an option in the search query window which nodes to search on.
Did you have 'All Views and Deleted Objects' selected in the search window when
this happened?

I just did a test searching looking for a node I know was in my trashbin. It
did not show up when I only had search 'All Views' selected, but did show up
when I had 'All Views and Deleted Objects' selected.

Can you search again and check what you have selected.
